It was launched on April 1st, 1979, as a small cable channel and is currently owned by ViacomCBS Networks Americas. Nickelodeon is known for its programming of animated shows, live-action series, game shows, and current and classic movies. Popular shows on the network include SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Henry Danger, among others. Nickelodeon has also expanded into other entertainment areas, such as theme parks, consumer products, and online gaming.
